In evaluating the potential for quality assurance within a higher education institution, particularly at the University of Education Ganesha (Undiksha), the institution ensures the delivery of high-quality education by considering feedback, criticism, and suggestions aligned with legal regulations, core values, and the university’s vision and mission. These standards are consistent with Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, specifically Article 51, paragraph 2, which emphasizes the management of higher education institutions through principles of autonomy, accountability, quality assurance, and transparent evaluation. Furthermore, the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 49 of 2014 concerning National Education Standards underscores Undiksha’s commitment to ensuring educational quality. This responsibility includes adherence to the Higher Education Standards set by the Minister, which encompass National Education Standards, Research Standards, and Community Service Standards, covering both academic and non-academic aspects. The Students Association of the Department of Foreign Languages (HMJBA) plays a role in monitoring the quality assurance of study programs, particularly within the Japanese Language Education Program, the English Language Education Program, and the D4 English for Business and Professional Communication Program. This initiative allows all students to provide feedback and suggestions on the educational services, especially within the Department of Foreign Languages. In addition to student involvement, the program also engages lecturers, administrative officials, department and program heads, including department chairs, secretaries, and coordinators of each study program.
Through this activity, students have the chance to engage in discussions with lecturers to address various issues they encounter, such as teaching quality, thesis supervision, and the availability of facilities and infrastructure that enhance their learning experience. This program is conducted annually, typically at the start of each odd semester.
In addition to these concerns, the department also runs a program aimed at improving service quality by involving students, particularly in resolving issues related to delays in study completion. These challenges often arise when students reach their seventh semester, which aligns with the thesis writing phase, as well as the barriers that prevent students from graduating on time. Therefore, student involvement is essential in tackling these issues.
With strong student participation in this program, regular panel discussions provide an opportunity for students to contribute to enhancing the quality of education. These dialogues between students and lecturers also have a positive influence on improving the quality of educational services, particularly within the Department of Indonesian and Regional Literature, which includes both the Balinese Language Education Program and the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program.
